Küchenfreunde, together with Ratsherrn Brauerei and Giorgio Gullotta Architekten, wins the multi-stage bidding process of LIG (Landesbetrieb Immobilienmanagement und Grundvermögen). Following the historical model of architect Ferdinand Streb, the Alsterpavillon from the 1950s on Jungfernstieg will become a culinary and cultural meeting place where brasserie meets Hanseatic aperitivo culture. Hannes Schröder, chef and master chef as well as managing director of Küchenfreunde, takes over the Alsterpavillon and becomes the new host of this wonderful place. The architectural concept aims to revive the original idea of architect Ferdinand Streb. In 1952, he designed a modern building that stood out in its architectural language at the time. Due to the many changes to the façade and interior, the Alsterpavillon is now only a shadow of its former self. The innovations and technical achievements of the time have been forgotten for decades. "Hamburg has lost a representative piece of its history with the Alsterpavillon. In future, the appearance of the Alsterpavillon will once again be characterized by its materiality and ingenious simplicity," says architect Giorgio Gullotta.
