The "Brauwerk" Vienna is a microbrewery in the 16th district of Ottakring in Vienna. It was opened in 2014 on the area that belongs to the Ottakringer brewery. The Ottakringer brewery is the last remaining large brewery in Austria's capital city. A large storage tank had to be removed in order to make room for the imposing "Brauwerk". Due to its round shape, however, the new building fits the style of the remaining tanks and blends in harmoniously into the brewery ensemble. The new building with its three levels offers enough space for the brew house, fermentation and tanks, as well as a small pub for events like brewing courses. The whole façade is made of glass. Therefore it offers insights into the “world of beer”. A movable sunshade that consists of single shutter elements ensures ideal lighting and a pleasant climate.
