About the project

The historical cattle halls are located in the middle of the district Schanzenviertel. Until the 1950s, these halls were used for importing and shipping calves and pigs. For a long time, these halls were only partially used as storage spaces and were in very poor condition due to weathering and graffiti. In order to save the building from demolition, they were revitalized, modernized and converted for new contemporary uses such as gastronomy, commercial and office spaces. In addition to Tim Mälzer's Bullerei, the Ratsherrn brewery, a music kindergarten as well as a frame factory, a film studio and a media production company, the coffee roasters "Elbgold" have also found their home in the new Schanzenhöfe. The coffee roastery and café are located in the northern part of the old cattle halls. Industrial flooring and non-plastered walls maintain the old building's charme and atmosphere.
